Mousetrap Machine Science Assembly on WGN Morning News!
Did you know that before Smarty Pants embarked on his career as a school assembly presenter, he was a professional geologist? It’s true! After receiving his degree from Columbia University of New York City, Smarty Pants worked at the prestigious Lamont-Doherty Observatory, located in the beautiful Palisades outside New York City.
Years later, Smarty Pants now combines his passions for science and innovative balloon constructions with the Mousetrap Machine Show. This science assembly teaches elementary school students how simple machines work – it’s the only science show in Illinois that ties directly into the state curriculum!

To promote awareness of our science assembly, Smarty Pants and the Lovely Miss Dena recently appeared on WGN-TV’s televised back to school event. We performed just a small bit from the assembly demonstrating the inclined plane, but I can say it was certainly an “egg-cellent” experience! Check out the footage below… and don’t miss a special guest appearance by our daughter, Penny Pants!
